Windows 10/11 Write Filter
The first image shows the general view when calling the EasyWriteFilterTool. Here the current status of the write filter can be seen under "Current session". If write protection is activated, the note below appears in red letters: Write protection is currently active. On the right side the protection can be activated or deactivated for the next session. In addition, the type of protection "Disk Based" or "Ram Based" can be selected and the maximum size of the buffer can be specified. A distinction is made between recording the cache on the ram or the disk. Recommended by RELISTE is "Disk Based". The button Default values resets the threshold values and the protection type to the default values..
Warning: The activation, as well as all changes to the write filter are only active after a system restart.
In the Drives tab, the status of the partitions present in the system can be viewed and changed for the next session. Reliste recommends a protection of the drives over the drive letter, in order to avoid complications when replacing components. In addition file paths can be excluded here, in order to permit these the writing on the non removable disk. Here the notes are to be considered absolutely. If the protection is activated, the standard exceptions can be inserted. This allows Easy Sight Pro and Windows functions to continue writing to disk.
In the Registry tab, registry entries can be excluded from the write filter. This mainly concerns Windows features that are constantly adapted and otherwise lead to problems in operation. The standard exceptions allow Windows services to continue to function. The notes are to be considered also here.
In the Service tab, the EasyWriteFilterTool can automatically perform an update cycle. Windows updates are installed and a system maintenance is performed. Please also observe the notes here.
