Requirements (IT)

Our RELISTE EasySightPro® image processing studio, in particular running on our RELISTE vision controllers, is a hardware-based and high-performance vision system and not a normal Windows PC or "Office programme". As hardware-related software, EasySightPro requires certain rights in Windows in order to function properly.

This basic consideration must be taken into account when restricting the standard Windows rights as delivered. The same applies to any additions to domains, installation of virus scanners, firewalls and other third-party software tools that were not supplied by us.

Our VisionControllers are currently, as of 6.7.2023, running Windows 11 IoT LTSC 2024, and our RELISTE EasyWriteFilter tool is also active, which blocks the controller for other third-party software apart from the necessary, parameterised exceptions for our software package. This protects the system against intentional or unintentional changes (e.g. by viruses). The write filter tool can be temporarily deactivated for changes in the system, but it is strongly recommended to leave it activated. You can find instructions for our write filter tool here: Windows 10 write filter.

The easiest way is to leave administrative rights to the user under which EasySightPro is running. By default, this is the user "vision" as supplied by us. A user with local admin rights and auto-logon on Windows start, so that EasySightPro can start automatically.

However, EasySightPro does not necessarily require admin rights; experience has shown that the following is sufficient:

  • Full, normal, Windows user (not restricted in default rights via policy)

  • Read/write access

  • If virus scanners and/or firewalls are installed: Exceptions and no scanning of RELISTE EasySightPro and Cognex VisionPro

  • Firewall must not check the camera network interfaces (the packet check can interfere with the image capture or make it impossible)

In many cases, Windows standard user rights are restricted by domain policies, despite statements to the contrary (from the IT department(s)). If the software does not run in such a case, you will ultimately have to determine empirically, with the help of the IT department, what rights are missing or could otherwise be additionally installed (virus scanners / firewalls). The list above provides a good starting point.

If there are problems with the proper operability of our software after changes or modifications in Windows or third-party software, it is your responsibility to restore an operable state as in the delivery state by rolling back these settings.

Properly configured, it is possible to lift our VisionControllers and EasySightPro into domains and equip them with virus scanners and firewalls; many of our systems are operated in this way without any problems.
